Mercer and GreenPath Financial Wellness to Hold Second Annual Family Financial Wellness Fair – Mercer U News (Georgia)
- March 31, 2015
Mercer University’s student chapter of the Financial Management Association (FMA) and GreenPath Financial Wellness will hold the second annual Family Financial Wellness Fair April 18, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the University Center on Mercer’s Macon campus.
The family-friendly event, which is free and open to the public, will include services such as credit reports and credit scores for the first 100 participants, consultation with certified financial planners, seminars on the Affordable Care Act, student loans and credit reports, activities for children and door prizes.
The goal of the Family Financial Wellness Fair is to support increasing personal financial stability for Middle Georgians through education and assistance regarding topics such as debt relief and wise budgeting and banking practices.
Last year’s inaugural event served 75 low- to moderate-income families, and the goal for this year’s event is to serve 200 families.
“This is a great event for Middle Georgians to meet with certified financial counselors for a financial health checkup and learn more about financial resources available in our community,” said Dr. Anitha Manohar, assistant professor of finance at Mercer.
More than two-dozen students in Mercer’s Stetson School of Business and Economics will work alongside University faculty and GreenPath employees to provide the complementary services.
“We are honored to partner with GreenPath again this year and are excited about reaching out to the community by hosting the second Family Financial Wellness Fair,” said Susan Li, a senior from Gray, who is president of the student chapter of FMA at Mercer.
