GreenPath Debt Solutions to provide presentation on Oct. 22 in Farmington Hills
Farmington Hills, MI – Oct. 12, 2009 – More than eight million Americans have their identities stolen each year. In 2008, ten million Americans fell victim to identity theft fraud, costing more than $48 million. There have been breaches of secure information in nearly every sector of the business community, not just in the credit industry. It also reaches into education, health care, banking, and even into government sectors. Anyone can be affected by identity theft.
In partnership with the National Foundation of Credit Counseling (NFCC), GreenPath Debt Solutions, headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan is working daily to build awareness of this problem.
On Thursday, October 22, counselors from GreenPath Debt Solutions will provide a one-hour informational program on how you can protect yourself from identity theft. The program will take place at GreenPath’s headquarters at 38505 Country Club Drive (off 12 Mile Road, east of Haggerty). The event coincides with National Protect Your Identity Week running from October 17-24.
“According to the National Foundation of Credit Counseling, the average victim’s loss per identity theft incident is $4,849, but more than that, the victim of identity theft will spend an average of 600 hours and $496 resolving the issues related to the crime,” said Amy Parten, education specialist, GreenPath Debt Solutions. “Prevention and education is the best answer to this growing problem,” she continued.
