(FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – October 19, 2009) - GreenPath Debt Solutions, a nonprofit agency headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, with 37 offices throughout the U.S., wants to remind homeowners that free foreclosure prevention counseling is only a phone call away. Recent reports have shown that 2009 third quarter foreclosure filings have hit a record high. RealtyTrac, an online marketer of foreclosed homes, found that nationwide, 937,480 homes received a foreclosure letter – whether a default notice, auction notice or bank repossession. That translates into one in every 136 U.S. homes, which is a five percent increase from the second quarter and a 23 percent jump over the third quarter of 2008.
Similarly, in the third quarter 2009, GreenPath fielded 10,753 inquiries from individuals calling to seek help with resolving or preventing mortgage delinquency, which is an increase of more than 350 calls over the third quarter 2008. Mortgage delinquency calls in third quarter 2009 accounted for 25 percent of all calls to GreenPath.
